Each year an increasing number of parents make the decision to educate their children at home. Many parents make excellent educators, but to teach effectively a parent must have the right resources - resources that are interesting and relevant to their child. Daily Update recognizes this need, and can provide you with a course curriculum that your children will enjoy. 

Why choose the Daily Update self-directed education program?

  1. Our home schooling programs are suitable for students from all countries. We do not make the assumption that all students live in the USA, and therefore students from outside the USA will not be overloaded with American history that has little relevance to their lives. Students using our home schooling programs are instead taught history from a global perspective. While parents of American students are able to supplement Daily-Update's history materials with additional local content if desired, American-based students will also benefit from gaining a broader knowledge of world history than is currently taught in US schools.
  2. You do not have to buy the entire course. Daily-Update provides you with the option of purchasing the home schooling curriculum in one-month modules . This not only eliminates the expense of paying for an entire program at one, but also gives you the opportunity to trial our coursework without committing yourself to purchasing a full year's materials.
  3. We do not send you volumes of old e-books and encyclopedias that you could download from the Internet yourself. While we may occasionally refer you to some suitable e-books in the public domain or some exceptional learning Web sites if they are relevant to our curriculum, our programs primarily utilize original Daily-Update short stories, articles worksheets and other materials.
  4. Students using our programs are encouraged to work independently, and to facilitate this style of learning we have made our lessons enjoyable and free from extended sessions of rote learning. A student's capacity to learn is greatly increased if they find their lessons interesting, therefore Daily Update has striven to create a curriculum that is varied and provides students with a positive challenge.

 

Costs:
The cost of each monthly module is US$10.00 if coursework disks are sent by air mail, or US$7.50 if sent electronically.
With respect to the latter, modules may be sent by e-mail or downloaded.

Future Developments:
Additional subjects currently being developed by Daily-Update are Chinese (Level 1) and Bible Studies (Level 1).
They are expected to cost US$3.00 per month for Chinese and US$2.00 per month for Bible Studies.

 Self-Directed Education

Our Self-Directed Education series, the Daily-Update Method, is a comprehensive learning program suitable for parents who home school and parents desiring extra tuition for their child. 

Three program levels are available: Level One is written for students aged 4-6. Level Two is for students aged 6-8, and Level Three for those aged 8-10. Each individual unit of learning is written by experienced and competent private teachers

Eight core subjects are covered each day: English; Mathematics; Science & Technology; Art & Craft; Health & Physical Education;  Society & Environment; Ethics & Manners; and History. Other subjects, including Geography; Biology; Computing; Law; Government and Music, are incorporated into the core subjects. Click HERE for an example (in MS word format).
