Guides to Overseas Study

Planning to study in a western school, college or university? Well, we have new guidebooks for the five major education providers: the USA; Canada; Australia; New Zealand; and the UK.
Each book is written by a professional writer-researcher from the country being looked at, and contains all the information you need: History; geography; government; food; clothing; accommodation; transport; recreation; applications; visas; costs; the education system; schools; colleges; universities; culture (and culture shock); holidays; working; health and survival skills.
There is an English version, a Traditional Chinese version and a Simplified Chinese version available for each country guide, and each book is available in either color or (slightly cheaper) black and white.

Finding the Right School
Searching for a school or college can be a time consuming and confusing time and knowing which ones to apply for and then which one to accept can be difficult ad even a little traumatic. But there are many ways of minimizing both the time taken and the confusion involved so that the process is a little less stressful.
Firstly you need to decide whether you want to attend school or college in your own area or state, or whether you are prepared to move to another location; and if so, how far you are prepared to relocate. Of course, your test scores may preclude some choice in this matter. You also need to have some idea of what you can afford. Some colleges are more expensive than others and some offer payment plans and scholarships while others do not.
It is a good idea to talk to your school's career counselor to seek some helpful guidance and insight. They will be able to judge your needs, aptitude and financial position and shortlist the suitable schools, thereby eliminating most of them that may not be right for you
You must do some research on your own as well. Get online and find the websites. Enter basic information about yourself such as your region, annual cost preference, freshman year class size preference, preference of the surrounding community size and public or private school type preference. Based on this information in the database it will offer a series of school recommendations. There are other sites that offer guidance on how to get scholarships and payment plans for college. You can also register for a SAT Program test with the help of one web site and send the results to different colleges and scholarship programs.
If you search Google it will present over 660,000 schools and colleges to choose from. Some of these institutions are specialty specific. There is a web site that tells you only about the insitutions that offer the MBA degree, for instance. You must tread cautiously because you might find that not all these sites are legitimate or give accurate information. Choosing a school or college is a challenging task but you can make it easier, less time-consuming and perhaps even less confusing if you let the World Wide Web guide you through the search process.
